Project Overview
Nestled deep in the mountains outside Olympia, WA, this off-grid retreat combines craftsmanship and natural beauty on a secluded 7-acre parcel. Our team designed and built a custom deck and bathroom to complement the existing yurt while maintaining harmony with the forest setting.
Project Story
The deck features TimberTech composite decking, chosen for its durability and low maintenance in the Pacific Northwest climate. Around the yurt, we added sapele hardwood window trim, an African hardwood known for its rich tone and resistance to weather—bringing a refined, warm contrast to the structure’s canvas exterior.
We framed and finished the entire bathroom structure, integrating off-grid functionality with modern comfort. The exterior is wrapped in hand-split cedar shake siding, giving the building an authentic, timeless character that blends seamlessly with the wooded surroundings.
This project reflects the balance between off-grid living and thoughtful design—crafted to endure the elements while feeling completely at home in nature.
